The first day of school. As moms, we either look forward to it or dread it. I am mostly in the “dread” category because I hate seeing my kids grow up so fast. And I worry about them so much. Will they have good friends? Will they have a teacher that understands them? Will they be safe? I am a worrier (obviously), so putting them on the bus is HARD.
But I also love seeing their personalities and strengths develop as they grow. I love seeing them grow into themselves and school is a big part of that for our family.
And that’s what makes these “First Day of School,” and “All About Me” printables so fun!
Memories are so important. And we forget, right? Without pictures and writing down the funny, scary, and amazing things down about our kids, we forget. Well, at least I do. So taking pictures is so important, and if we can have a picture that also tells our story…well, that’s awesome.
So I like to have my kids hold printable signs on their first day of school as I take pictures so that when I go to post it in social media or scrapbook about it, my picture tells the story.
And as I have looked back over the years on their first days of school, while my heart is sad at how quickly my kids are growing up, I am also so thankful for the time I have with them and the amazing people who have blessed in their journeys. The teachers, the lunch ladies, the crossing guards…they are all a part of who they are. And I am looking forward to making more of these memories this coming school year!
Along with the “First Day of School” printable signs, I wanted to make a printable that the kids could fill out so we could remember all about their fun personalities. My kid’s favorite colors change every other day. Their handwriting changes. Their favorite tv show changes. And since I know that in 40 years, I will have forgotten about these fun little details about their personalities, it’s nice to have written down (in their own handwriting).
These printables come in color and black & white. I wanted to make sure that they were easy to print and easy to read.
The “First Day of School” printables start with kindergarten and go all the way to 12th grade. I was going to go all the way up to PhD as a joke, but I was afraid that people may not realize I was joking. (But seriously, wouldn’t that be so funny to see a 25-year-old holding up a sign that says “Second Year of Grad School!) But alas, I refrained and you only have kindergarten to 12th grade here.
I hope you like these printables! I hope they help you make great memories and remember all these precious years when your kids experienced big milestones, like the first day of school.
If you like this printable, I would love it if you shared it with your friends on social media. Or tag me in Instagram or Facebook! I love to see you and chat with you.
