These modest mermaids were inspired by my daughter.

She told me that she was going to be the ONLY one not wearing a two-piece swimming suit at an upcoming pool party. I assured her that that wasn’t true (& even if it was, she was still going to wear a one-piece, modest swimming suit). <–Yes, I really said that.

But as I looked around at the cute two-piece swimming suits on sale in the stores, and saw how the girls dressed on her favorite tv shows, I could see how my daughter could think that everyone but her was wearing bikinis.

So I told my husband that I was going to makes some cute & modest mermaid paper dolls. He laughed and said, “Of course you are.”

But I was serious. I wanted a super fun way for my girls to play with modest mermaids. So I got to work and I am so happy with how my modest mermaids turned out.

I was just going to make one mermaid, but my youngest daughter told me that I had to make one that matched her dark hair and skin. And so I kept making mermaids, and even added a mer-boy!
