I’ve been feeling really anxious lately.
I see that my kids have needs and I hope and pray I’m doing enough for them. I have a demanding calling that I love but takes a lot of time and energy. I love this little blog and always want to serve you here. I have a house that needs constant cleaning…you get the idea.
Because your life is no different. Stress comes at us on all sides. 
But yesterday I felt like the Lord gave me clarity on a busy sidewalk.
Our family was walking in downtown Salt Lake and we ran into Sister Cordon, the general Young Women President.
Now, she doesn’t know me. We’re not besties or anything (I wish!). But the night before I was at a training meeting and she gave us some amazing council and insight.
So when I saw her in the street, I said “thanks for your great training,” and I started walking away, but she stopped and we chatted for a sec. And that short chat was just what I needed.
In the middle of our conversation, she said:
“The Spirit never overwhelms.”
But we live in a world that is noisy, busy, and overwhelming.
Realizing that I need to be more deliberate in listening to the Spirit to seek the calm and peace I crave was very insightful. And just what I needed to hear so I can recognize that my anxiety is not the Lord’s voice.
And it echoes our dear prophet’s call to figure out “How do I hear Him?”
It’s so, so incredibly easy to just collapse into bed every night with a quick and thoughtless prayer. #guilty
It’s so easy to pray without listening. #guiltyagain
And it takes work and practice to hear and understand revelation.
But it’s so worth it.
