We love this body spray! I made a batch last week and my girls have gone crazy with it. It was fun and easy to make, and now we all smell so fresh and citrus-y. In fact, I am pretty sure I can get away with bathing the girls less often now, since they smell so fresh. Okay, I’m kidding. But only about the bathing less part, but they really do smell good.
This DIY body spray is so easy. The basic supplies are little spray bottles (I got mine for $1 each at Hobby Lobby), water, and essential oils (which I get from my local Sprouts but you can also get them on Amazon). I love the combination of tangerine, sweet orange, and grapefruit. It smells so yummy!
There are a few optional ingredients that I add to our body spray: fractionated coconut oil and food coloring. Fractionated coconut oil is fragrance free, stays liquid at room temperature, and doesn’t stain clothes. It’s a great carrier for the fragrance and essential oil properties. And the food coloring just makes it so pretty. Literally, just one or two drops, and your body spray is a gorgeous color!
How to make DIY body spray:
- Fill the spray bottle with water until it is 3/4 full.
- Add 20 drops of sweet orange essential oil, 20 drops of tangerine essential oil, and 5 drops of grapefruit essential oil. (Or any combination that you like; I like a really strong citrus fragrance.)
- Optional: Add 1/2 tsp. of fractionated coconut oil, and 1 drop of yellow food coloring for the yellow color, or 1 drop of yellow and 1 drop of red for the orange color.
- If there is any space left at the top of the bottle, fill it with water until it is full. Put on the lid, label, and enjoy!
Of course we need some cute labels and tags to go with our body spray! My mom was helping me come up with a name for our body spray concoction, and we thought “Citrus Delight” was perfect. I made labels and printed them out on 8.5×11 mailing labels, which turned them into stickers. Or, you could just print them on card stock and attach them with a dab of hot glue or double sided tape. Some of the labels say “Citrus Delight,” and others are blank, so you can choose what your body spray will be called.
The tags add such a nice touch when giving this body spray as a gift. You can just print them out on card stock, cut, and tie with twine or ribbon. It is so cute!
