These flyswatter bubbles are so fun!
I have learned that these bubbles are a kid magnet. The first time we did flyswatter bubbles in our front yard, all the neighbor kids came over to play. And a mom walking by let her toddler get out of the stroller and join us in the fun. We had to search the house for more flyswatters!
But these bubbles are so fun that it is worth buying a few more flyswatters, just for this activity!
And the cheaper the flyswatter, the better! In fact, the plastic handled ones work the best. They are flimsy enough that when you wave it, you get some really good bubbles.
This idea came from my mom. She is a substitute teacher, and taught a class that did these flyswatter bubbles for an afternoon activity. The kids had so much fun that as soon she got home, she told me about it and suggested I try it with my girls.
When it was such a big hit with all the kids (including the neighbor kids), I thought I would share it with you!
This activity is perfect for all your summer parties. Or on those afternoons when all the kids are bored.
This has been one of our favorite boredom busters this summer, and I hope you get a chance to try it out!
The bubbles are so easy to make.
How to make Flyswatter Bubbles
In a bowl big enough for fly swatters to fit in (I used a plastic food container), combine:
- 6 cups water
- 1 cup dish soap (any brand or color will work)
- 1/4 cup corn syrup
- Flyswatters (the ones with a plastic handle are our favorite for this activity)
Now you may be wondering about the corn syrup. I got the idea from google and it’s brilliant! The corn syrup makes the bubbles stick together and hold their shape better.
We have done these flyswatter bubbles without the corn syrup, and it worked just fine. But the corn syrup bubbles are more fun.
If you get a chance to play with these flyswatter bubbles, leave a comment and let me know how it went. I love to hear from you!
