The other day I was trying to tell my kids about general conference when I was a kid.
Quite honestly, I dreaded general conference in my younger, very immature years. The internet was not a thing. We had to go to the church building, sit quietly on hard chairs in a dark chapel, and watch the screen. I didn’t understand why I had to listen to old people talk about things I didn’t really understand.
Oh, how different things are today!
I look forward to general conference, and gratefully, so do my children.
It’s a weekend of family, treats, journaling, coloring, and listening to our prophet and church leaders.
And with President Nelson, it’s even more exciting!
General conference has been full of riveting announcements and changes. This past conference was certainly no exception (hello, new Young Women theme).
But the doctrines taught are so relevant and compelling to today’s challenges.
I loved making these printables for you. Trying to pick only a few quotes was the hardest part!
I believe the words and images that surround us have power.
The words of the prophets give us strength, hope, and courage to keep up the faith.

Because I’m a sympathy cryer, I usually end up crying in President Eyring’s talk. But I don’t even mind because I love him so much.
My prayer for today is that I may help you understand that greater happiness comes from greater personal holiness so that you will act upon that belief.
Whenever I make printables, I print them out and tape them on my pantry door. I usually look at them for days, mark them with Sharpies, and think about how I can make the designs better.
And when printables are on the pantry door, everyone in the house gives me their opinion of my work. (And their opinions aren’t always positive, in case you were wondering.)

My kids didn’t understand what all the quotes on the pantry door mean, but this one they get.
So yep, it’s staying up. I’m going to wave it in front of their devices when they’ve had too much screen time.

In a recent sacrament meeting I attended, a returned missionary quoted a father who summed up this idea perfectly when he said to his children, “What we need here is less Wi-Fi and more Nephi!”
This quote from President Oaks has stuck with me.
It’s the combination of acknowledging how little we know, and how much God loves us, that makes this quote so impactful.
And so comforting.
There is so much we do not know that our only sure reliance is to trust in the Lord and His love for His children.
When Sister Aburto started talking about depression and anxiety, I paid attention.
I’m not sure anyone is immune from these feelings during this life. Certainly no one in my life has been immune from them.
Hearing about her experiences and her counsel was so refreshing, and so hopeful.

A week or so after general conference, I got an email from a reader. She was reaching out to ask a favor.
