Use this free “Live in Thanksgiving Daily -Alma 34:38” printable to help your family find gratitude & joy in everyday life. Or give to your friends and family as a gift this holiday season.
The holiday season brings endless advertising, sales, and a barrage of “must have” gifts this year. Trying to rein in all the wish-lists and Christmas chaos can seem as daunting as climbing Mt. Everest.
Thankfully, we have a month every year that focuses on gratitude and thankfulness.
November can feel like the calm between the storms of Halloween and Christmas. It’s an opportunity month. It’s a month to hone in on what we have and what we are grateful for with laser-focus.
But teaching children gratitude is no small task in a world full of entitlement and instant gratification.
But we would be crazy not to teach our children about gratitude! The effects of gratitude are well-documented by science.
Gratitude makes you happier, healthier, and more like-able. Gratitude makes you less self-centered, more spiritual, and less selfish.
Science acknowledges that grateful people have better relationships, are more productive, and have more job satisfaction. Grateful people live longer and have a better quality of life.
But of course this doesn’t surprise you. You know this from the scriptures.
Our Heavenly Father, who loves us more than we can understand, and wants us to have joy, and told us over and over to be grateful.
Because He knows that it will make us better, happier people.
Gratitude for the win!
Live in thanksgiving daily.
This small but powerful phrase from the Book of Mormon is one of my favorites.
And it’s so, so perfect for Thanksgiving!
So my friend, it’s yours. 🙂
It’s actually part of a kit that was inspired by my friend Carolyn.
Carolyn has a family tradition that I’m so excited to do with my own family. And I get to share this fun and powerful tradition with you! (With her permission, of course.)
Every night for the month of November, every member of her family writes down one thing they are grateful for on a strip of paper. She stores these gratitude strips all month, then on the first day of December, she makes them into a paper chain. She wraps this chain around the Christmas tree as a visual reminder of everything they have.
#brilliant.
When Carolyn told me of this tradition, I fell in love. This is a powerful gratitude tradition.
Now, my kids can see every day during December how much we have to be grateful for. Because you know, it’s wrapped around the tree. Or hung on a banister.
This kit makes creating a tradition of gratitude easy, fun, and pretty!
And now it’s available for you and your family too. 🙂
I hope your family will enjoy the benefits of gratitude this month. And always.
Teaching our children gratitude is one of the best things we can do for them.
Creating a culture of gratitude in our homes is important. And it doesn’t have to be hard. Sure, it takes some deliberate effort, but it’s well worth the time.
It’s a gift that keeps on giving. 🙂
I truly hope you can use this free printable for your own home, or for gifts for your friends and family.
