Free Valentine’s Day Matching Game

Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays. It’s such a bright and colorful holiday in an otherwise dreary season. It’s already been a long winter here in Utah, so Valentine’s Day is a welcome splash of color and fun.

Like all holidays, Valentine’s Day is a magical time for kids. There are pretty treats, fun games, and cute cards. I love the abundance of good chocolate on the shelves and beautiful flowers in every grocery store. It’s a lovely thing!

When a friend sent me a picture on Facebook of her daughter playing my Christmas matching game, I knew I wanted to make one for Valentine’s Day. We have been playing this version the past few days, and I am totally loving it!

(And just so you know, there are some affiliate links below. You can read about them in my disclosure policy.)

This free Valentine's Day matching game is perfect for all ages! It's colorful, bright, and super fun to play! Play it at class parties, play-dates, or at home. Even better, it comes with a matching gift box for storage-it's the perfect and inexpensive gift for families everywhere! www.TeepeeGirl.com

If you are familiar with the game Spot-It, then you know how this game goes.

There are a few ways to play, but the easiest is two put any two cards down and the person who finds the matching image, gets to pick up both cards and keep them in their stack.

When all the cards are gone, the person with the most cards in his/her stack, wins!

This game (and all matching games) are great for kids and their development. They help improve concentration, increase short term memory, and improve vocabulary, just to name a few! For my four-year-old, this game also reinforces her numbers, because I have her count all her cards at the end of the game.

So it’s a win-win sort of game! The kids have fun while developing some skills. Yay!

Sometimes I find my kids playing these matching games by themselves, and that makes me want to do a fist pump in the air! Then I know that they really do like the game and they are off their screens. Love that!

One of my favorite parts of this game is the gift box. I just love cute containers, and this gift box makes me so happy!

It’s the perfect little container for this game (waaaaay cuter than the zipper baggie we were using) and it makes this game a great gift!

Making the box is super easy! The instructions tell you where to score, fold, and glue. I use my Martha Stewart Scoring Board and it makes scoring the lines a breeze.

Scoring the lines is important so that you get a nice, crisp fold. Trust me. It’s totally worth the tiny bit of effort to score. You’ll love the result!

But you can also use a ruler and the back of a dinner knife to get scored lines. Place the ruler along the line you need to score according to the directions, and slide the back of the dinner knife along the ruler. It doesn’t make the scored line as deep as the scoring board, but it works in a pinch!

Then just glue and fold the box and bask in your crafty awesomeness.

No, really. You should totally bask in your awesomeness. You deserve it. 🙂
