They’re here! My April 2017 LDS general conference quote printables are finally done and I am so excited to share them with you!
I hope you can use these printables as gifts, home decor, visiting teaching, and lesson handouts. But mostly, I hope that as you look at them and read the inspired quotes, you feel peace, joy, and comfort.
I love, love, love this quote! I think we sometimes need the reminder that peace, hope, comfort, and love are always available to us. This quote came from the talk, “And This Is Life Eternal,” by C. Scott Grow.
“When you pray with faith, you will feel God’s love as His Spirit speaks to your soul. No matter how alone or uncertain you may feel at times, you are not alone in this world. God knows you, personally. As you pray, you will come to know Him.“-C. Scott Grow
I am going to frame this printable and put it up in my office. Far too often, I find myself worrying way too much about what others think and feel. This printable is such a great reminder that “looking up” is always the better plan. We find peace, joy, understanding, and help when we “look up.” I love the story and counsel given by Elder Yoon Hwan Choi in his talk, “Don’t Look Around, Look Up!”
“One day, a few months after my baptism, I heard some members criticizing each other in church. I was very disappointed. I went home and told my father that maybe I should not go to church anymore. It was difficult to see members criticize others like that. After listening, my father taught me that the gospel had been restored and it is perfect but members are not yet, neither himself nor me. He firmly said, “Do not lose your faith because of the people around you, but build a strong relationship with Jesus Christ. Don’t look around, look up!”
Look up to Jesus Christ—the wise advice of my father—strengthens my faith whenever I face challenges in life. He taught me how to apply the teachings of Christ, as in these words: “Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not.”-Yoon Hwan Choi
Fear and worry. Two things that I constantly struggle against. In his talk, “Perfect Love Casteth Out All Fear,” Elder Uchtdorf talks about the problem of fear and how to deal with fear. I found this quote truly inspiring:
“God is on our side. He loves us, and when we stumble, He wants us to rise up, try again, and become stronger.
He is our mentor.
He is our great and cherished hope.
He desires to stimulate us with faith.
He trusts us to learn from our missteps and make correct choices.
This is the better way!”-Dieter F. Uchtdorf
If you follow me on Instagram, you may remember that I set a goal at the beginning of the year to be more kind. And I have always considered myself a kind person but when I consicously focus on kindness, I realize that I have some work to do. I love this quote by Elder Renlund in his talk, “Our Good Shepherd.”
“Our Good Shepherd is unchanging and feels the same way today about sin and sinners as He did when He walked the earth. He does not recoil from us because we sin, even if He on occasion must think, “But what a sheep!” He loves us so much that He provided the way for us to repent and become clean so we can return to Him and our Heavenly Father. In doing so, Jesus Christ also set the example for us to follow—to show respect to all and hatred toward none.”-Dale G. Renlund
I think it’s really hard to have a favorite talk from general conference, because there are just so many touching, inspiring, and thought-provoking talks. But if I had to pick one from this most recent conference, I would pick Elder Holland’s talk, “Songs Sung and Unsung.”
In fact, I used his talk to inspire two of my quote printables. A focal point for Elder Holland’s talk is the song, “There is Sunshine In My Soul Today”, by Eliza Hewitt. I also love this song, and love that Elder Holland used this song to help us understand that each of us has time when we sing happily along life’s path, and at other times, sorrow and pain keep us from singing like we long to. But “Jesus listening can hear the songs I cannot sing.”
“There is sunshine in my soul today,” Eliza Hewitt wrote, “more glorious and bright than glows in any earthly sky, for Jesus is my light.” With radiance in every note, that marvelous old Christian hymn is virtually impossible to sing without smiling. But today I wish to lift out of context just one line from it that may help on days when we find it hard to sing or smile and “peaceful happy moments” do not seem to “roll.” If for a time you are unable to echo the joyous melodies you hear coming from others, I ask you to hold tenaciously to the line in this hymn that reassures, “Jesus listening can hear the songs [you] cannot sing.”-Jeffrey R. Holland
